{"id":10,"date":"2008-09-16T12:05:30","date_gmt":"2008-09-16T16:05:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dbtricks.com\/?p=10"},"modified":"2008-09-16T12:05:30","modified_gmt":"2008-09-16T16:05:30","slug":"a-quick-and-dirty-fix-for-ora-01008","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dbtricks.com\/?p=10","title":{"rendered":"A quick and dirty fix for ORA-01008"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If a &#8220;ORA-01008 Not All Variables Bound&#8221; error is displayed, this could probably be related to oracle bug <a href=\"https:\/\/metalink.oracle.com\/metalink\/plsql\/f?p=130:3:2841024917587000123::::p3_database_id,p3_docid,p3_show_header,p3_show_help,p3_black_frame,p3_font:NOT,5254759.8,1,0,1,helvetica\" target=\"_blank\">5254759<\/a>.<br \/>\nThis could be solved by upgrading to 10.2.04 or installing the <a href=\"http:\/\/updates.oracle.com\/ARULink\/PatchDetails\/process_form?patch_num=5254759\" target=\"_blank\">interim patch<\/a>.<br \/>\nHowever if you need a quick and diry workaround you can try to eneable closing cursor on the dsn:<\/p>\n<p>1) Open the ODBC administrator (control panel -&gt; administrative tools -&gt; ODBC)<br \/>\n2) Choose your DSN and click &#8220;Configure&#8221;<br \/>\n3) In the application tab, check the &#8220;enable closing cursor&#8221; checkbox.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dbtricks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/enable-closing-cursors.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-11 aligncenter\" title=\"enable closing cursors\" src=\"http:\/\/dbtricks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/enable-closing-cursors-300x192.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"192\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dbtricks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/enable-closing-cursors-300x192.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dbtricks.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/enable-closing-cursors.jpg 563w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that this solution may not always work and it will probably result in a notable performance reduction but it may help until the patchset is applied.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If a &#8220;ORA-01008 Not All Variables Bound&#8221; error is displayed, this could probably be related to oracle bug 5254759.
